Using MetaMask for DeFi, Web3, and NFTs

Managing Your Assets

MetaMask allows you to manage various Ethereum-based assets:

View Your Portfolio: After logging in, you can view your Ethereum balance, transaction history, and token holdings directly from the MetaMask dashboard.

Send and Receive Ethereum: To send Ethereum, click "Send," enter the recipient's address and amount, and confirm the transaction. To receive Ethereum, click "Receive" to display your wallet address or QR code.

Add Tokens: You can add custom tokens to your MetaMask wallet by clicking "Add Token" and entering the token's contract address.

Interacting with DeFi and Web3 Apps

MetaMask serves as a bridge to decentralized applications:

Explore DApps: Visit popular DeFi platforms like Uniswap, Compound, and Aave, or explore NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea and Rarible.

Connect Your Wallet: When visiting a DApp, look for the option to connect your wallet. Select MetaMask and follow the prompts to authorize the connection.

Perform Transactions: Use MetaMask to perform transactions within DApps. For instance, you can trade tokens, lend and borrow assets, or purchase NFTs. Confirm each transaction in MetaMask, ensuring you have sufficient Ethereum for gas fees.

Security Best Practices

Protect Your Recovery Phrase: Your recovery phrase is the key to your wallet. Never share it with anyone and store it securely.

Beware of Phishing Scams: Always verify the authenticity of websites and DApps before entering your MetaMask credentials. Be cautious of phishing attempts and fake websites.

Enable Additional Security Features: Consider enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security and regularly update your MetaMask extension to benefit from the latest security features.
